The taste and character of Darjeeling Tea varies, depending upon the time of the year during which the tea leaves are plucked. With the onset of autumn season, rains become less frequent and the climate cools down. Autumnal Tea is manufactured in October through November after the monsoon ends. Autumnal Tea is noticeably distinct from first flush and second flush teas - it has a coppery colour and a wonderful mellow flavour. After the autumnal crop, the plucking of tea leaves stops as winter sets in. Autumnal tea is thus also known as Winter Tea.
